i think maybe 40 people did the test and passed, they took three. 3 would make it past the tests, 1 would make it to the selection course. so much secrecy behind the jtf2. i’m asking since i believe it to be illegal to disclose their identity. this makes sense, i was kind of surprised how low the requirements were, i think any person who exercises regularly should be able to hit a 75 pt minimum based on that. i know a guy who was/is(?) he and another guy were scrawny-ish and the other guy had a few extra lbs on his gut but plenty of ripped, checked out guys didn’t make it. 90% mentality probably this is the standard to get a tryout. only after that so you get the training like”shooting people”. you’ll puke and shit yourself in the pool. the don’t really expect you to show up with “the skills” because they’ll teach that if you pass hell week.
i was in the army (infantry) for 5 years. he said out of the 50+ (i forget exact number) of guys who went for hell week, only 3 made it including himself and he said they (himself included) definitely weren’t the most in shape. i’ll add that a few years into his time in the jtf2 he was posted to base i was at as an instructor in the urban ops cell, i’d see him at the gym and you wouldn’t believe the painful workout he put himself through. it was kind of disgusting. it becomes all about the mental toughness. i’m a pretty confident guy, was in really good shape and performed well in the field under stressful conditions and i can admit that i probably couldn’t have made it. i don’t doubt you have the fitness to meet the minimum requirements and maybe the mentality too but it takes a special breed to pass selection. hey, a side benefit of getting older and busted knees. nobody gonna draft our ass for the next big clusterfuck. i’ve been able to do the pullups and run, my best was 44 wide straight up straight down pullups, but that bench and oddly the situps, wouldn’t be able to, now and haven’t been. we did this test every monday (except for the 1rm bench).
