im gonna start the program in 2-3 weeks and do it for 6-8 weeks. for those who didn’t know the program and wanna try it, here ya go: to all those who follow this, please be careful of overuse of the elbows. this has a history of causing injuries due to overuse. if you could only do 3 pushups, nobody would say to just grease that groove. for some reason pullups are treated as the start of the progression (or near it) rather than a solid middle step. i’m currently following the beginner routine quite strictly for 3 weeks or so. it a great program – i did it for 4 weeks (not nearly long enough but i got bored and went back to just doing ppl 6 days a week) and it was great. my week totals were: 155, 189, 222, 210 – week 4 was tough and i was getting bored so decided to know it on the head but i can still do 15 if i need to.
push ups are great for emphasizing the “push muscles” versus the pull ups’ “pull muscles.” and just progress to more difficult moves for each exercise when i feel it has become “to easy”. i use www.startbodyweight.com for progressions when i start the armstrong program, i will do it monday-friday and on the fullbody days(m, w, f) i will do it instead of the 4 sets x max reps for pullups, then wait 5-10 min. and this doesn’t burn my body out so there is still place for 2-3 times running a week on the side. think this is a good plan to do for a couple of months to build a nice foundation(armstrong program should only be done for max 6-8 weeks). this is awesome, i think i might forego the pavel fighter pullup routine for this one. sounds like a very classic manly thing to do; bang out 3 sets of max pushups between your various morning activities and finish with a shower. i do a basic fullbody 3 times a week(m, w, f) where i do 4 sets of pushups each workout, so i dont really think the pushups in the morning is so important, but just remembering to warm up properly for each day.
